Royal College of Music

What does music look like? We wanted to position The Royal College of Music as "The Home of Music," reflecting its esteemed position as a world-leading home for the future of music talent. The identity served as both a literal and metaphorical home for music, housing the creativity of the world's newest musical talent. The interactive nature of the identity captured the essence of the institution and the vibrant creativity that flourishes within its walls.

The Royal College of Music's rebranding effort showcased a bold and forward-thinking approach to visual identity whilst respecting the institutions rich history and prestige. The new design incorporated a generative identity powered by music, featuring a logomark that represented the five bars of the musical stave. This innovative branding extended across all printed materials and the website, creating a cohesive but flexible and adaptable modern look for the institution.

A highlight of the rebranding was a fully immersive event where students performed music while the new identity reacted to it, demonstrating the dynamic and interactive nature of the design. This comprehensive visual overhaul not only paid homage to the RCM's rich history but also positioned it as a cutting-edge institution ready to nurture the next generation of musical talent in an increasingly digital age
